Made by hand

On its way

Some things are made to be useful. These were made to be meaningful.

The Triad Vessels are a collaboration between a local woodworker and me. Each set of three is hand-turned from solid sapele wood, wrapped with a hand-stitched and debossed leather band, and finished with a cork base to protect your surfaces and allow for stacking. They are small by design, purposeful rather than ornamental.

Use Inspiration

Three is not an arbitrary number. It maps onto some of the oldest structures in esoteric practice, and the vessels reflect that.

Use them as altar offering cups, one for salt, one for moon water, one for dried herbs or botanicals. Use them to hold crystals organised by intention, protection, clarity, grounding, with a raw point or a handful of tumblestones in each. Place an LED tealight in one or all three to warm a shelf or reading space.

Practitioners have used sets like these to give structure to a reading: one vessel holds the drawn rune or card face down, one holds a crystal focus, and one holds an associated herb. Others use them as spell component cups, laying out dry ingredients before ritual work, the way a cook sets out ingredients before cooking.

There is no single right use. That is the point of them.

A collaboration between two makers, made in small quantities, by hand, in England.

Approximate Dimensions

  • The dimensions of each vessel are 44mm tall by 60mm wide.

How it's made

Sapele was chosen for its density, natural lustre, and interlocking grain. Each vessel is hand-turned on a lathe. Once turned, the wood is finished in a blend of beeswax, mineral oil, and carnauba wax (the woodworker's own formula). It feeds the wood rather than coating it, leaving a surface that is smooth without being glassy, and warm rather than lacquered.

Once I receive the vessels, I deboss the leather using brass stamp letters and secure it using hand-stitch. Finally, a cork base is set into the underside of each vessel to protect surfaces and allow the three to stack cleanly when not in use.

Natural Leather Characteristics

  • The colour of your leather piece may differ slightly from what you see on your screen.
  • Due to the dyeing process, the colour may vary slightly depending on the area of the leather.
  • As full-grain leather undergoes minimal processing, natural wrinkles may remain visible and their patterns can vary from piece to piece.
  • With natural leather, some blemishes are to be expected, though I always do my best to keep these to a minimum.
